Agenda

On 27 October 2025, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP) held a follow-up discussion to its May debate “Growing the Future: Sustainable Agriculture in Europe”, this time focusing on the Polish perspective. The event, titled “Development of the Future — Sustainable Agri-Food Production in Poland, took place at the European Parliament Office in Warsaw.

Building upon the dialogue launched in May at the European Parliament in Brussels, the discussion addressed how to strengthen the sustainability and resilience of agri-food systems in light of climate challenges, geopolitical instability, and shifting consumer expectations. This edition placed particular emphasis on Poland’s agri-food sector as a pillar of sustainable food production in Europe, a theme of growing relevance ahead of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Participants explored ways to ensure sustainable growth of Poland’s agri-food sector, enhance its competitiveness within the EU Single Market, and reinforce its resilience to market and climate pressures. Key topics included cooperation between farmers, administrations, and the private sector; the promotion of innovation and digital solutions in agribusiness; the development of climate-friendly production models; and the role of public-private partnerships in advancing sustainable food systems.

Opening remarks were delivered by Adam Nowak, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Krzysztof Hetman, Member of the European Parliament (EPP, REGI and AGRI Committees); and Witold Naturski, Head of the European Parliament Office in Poland.

The panel featured Dr. hab. Marek Wigier (Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute), Jerzy Wierzbicki (Polish Platform for Sustainable Beef), Dr. Michał Gazdecki (Poznań University of Life Sciences), Dr. Jerzy Plewa (Team Europe expert), and Aleksandra Wróbel (Regulatory Analyst, ZPP).

The discussion was moderated by Agata Boutanos, representing the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP).
