Agenda

On 13 May 2025, the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (ZPP), in collaboration with SME Connect and the European Enterprise Alliance (EEA), hosted a high-level working breakfast at the European Parliament titled “Growing the Future: Sustainable Agrifood in Europe.” The event was hosted by MEP Herbert Dorfmann and featured the participation of MEP Carmen Crespo Diaz, representatives from the European Commission, and members of the agrifood business community.

The discussion focused on aligning agricultural policy at both the EU and national levels with long-term sustainability and food security goals. Against the backdrop of increasing global demand, climate change, and complex regulatory environments, participants reflected on the impact of reforms to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the importance of technological innovation in farming practices, and the scale of investment needed to support the green transition.

Speakers highlighted the value of targeted financial instruments for farmers, improved risk management frameworks, support for technology adoption, and greater cross-border coordination as essential elements in building a resilient, competitive, and sustainable agrifood sector across Europe.
